Experience a BBQ the Inuit way!

Inuk Hostels invites you to taste local foods such as capelin, arctic char, seal meat, and reindeer meat.
Explore local gastronomy accompanied by the stunning view just outside Inuk Hostel. In a local, traditional manner, food is prepared, grilled and cooked on heated stones outside.

During summertime, the magnificent view the Hostel has towards the city landmark, the island with the beautiful mountain “Sermitsiaq”, is the setting for a unique food experience.
Lillian and Vivi Noahsen, mother and daughter, invite you to discover and learn about Greenlandic food, history, and culture. Most of the served food is homemade, either at home or in front of the guests, outside at the beach.

The vast fiord system – the Godthåbs Fiord – home to several glaciers at the bottom of the fiord system, is the scenery and one of the main actors in Vivi’s stories, as the Inuit always have depended on nature and their surroundings. Lillian and Vivi can tell exactly where the produce is from and how it was prepared.

The array of traditional food served is broad – what’s on the menu depends on one thing only: the season. Guests are invited to learn more about the Greenlandic ingredients and the significance that certain plants play in food preparation.

Small servings are shared amongst all guests, accompanied by stories about the produces journey to the guests as well as cultural and historical facts. In a relaxed atmosphere, there is plenty of opportunities to share experiences and engage with the guests. Foodlovers have an excellent opportunity to learn first-hand from the chef Lillian.
